Sunrise Service, Slow Pitch Softball Leagues Forming, Online Courses and Alcohol Awareness Month

1. According to Weather.com, the forecast for Tolland calls for a high of 68ºF under mostly-cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of rain beginning around 3 p.m. The overnight low will be 49ºF with a continued 30 percent chance of rain.

2. If you're an early riser, head to the Fox Hill Tower in Henry Park in Vernon. At 6 a.m., there will be an Easter Sunrise Service. The service will feature gathering and opening songs, prayers, scripture and more, followed by praise and worship music. Visit http://rockvillect.org/sunrise_service-2011.htm for more information.

3. Slow Pitch Softball Leagues are beginning in May and will play weeknights at Crandall Park. This league is for adults 18 and older. In addition, a Slow Pitch "Over 35" Softball League will begin playing on Friday nights at Crandall Park. To sign up for either league, call the Tolland Recreation Department at 860-871-3610.

Tolland Recreation and Adult Education are offering more than 300 on-line courses covering a wide range of topics. 5. April is National Alcohol Awareness Month. If you are interested in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for yourself or a loved one, the Connecticut AA Web site has a wealth of information available, including AA literature, how the group works, how it's helping teenagers, where to find a meeting and more. If you would like to speak with a recovering alcoholic in a nearby town, a member will be happy to speak with you.
