Tolland Police Blotter: Jan. 19 - 27

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of January 27, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

 

January 19

Police responded to an accident on Rhodes Road after Tolland resident Stephen Wolff went off the shoulder of the road and snapped a CL&P pole in half, police report. His vehicle was totaled and the road was closed temporarily, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Police responded to a one-car accident on I-84 after a Michigan resident lost control of his car on the snow-covered highway near Exit 69. Police report that the vehicle sustained minor damage, and the driver was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for the conditions. The vehicle was towed, according to police. 

January 21

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 30 after Tolland resident Ghulam Chaudhry lost control of his car, hitting another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, police report. The road conditions were snowy. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and both drivers and two passengers reported injuries, according to police. Chaudhry was found at fault for traveling too fast for the conditions, police report.

Police responded to a one-car accident on Route 195 in Tolland after a Wallingford resident traveled off the right shoulder and hit a guardrail, overturning the car. The car was towed from the scene, and the driver was found at fault for traveling too fast for the conditions, police report.

January 22

Police responded to a two-car accident on Merrow Road after a Windsor Locks driver slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by a Torrington driver, according to police. No injuries were reported, although the second vehicle was towed, police report. The Torrington driver was issued a written warning for following too closely, according to police.

January 23

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 after a vehicle rear-ended another that had slowed for traffic, police report. The second driver was found at fault for following too close, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Police responded to a two-car accident on Old Cathole Road after a Tolland minor driver hit a car driven by Tolland resident Laura Harger when turning out of Eagle Hill Drive, police report. The minor was issued a written warning for stop sign violation, police report. No injuries were reported.

January 25

State police are investigating the larceny of scrap metal, taken from NESSteel on Gerber Drive. Around $400 worth of metal was taken from a dumpster, police report. The case is under investigation.
