Tolland Police Blotter: Nov. 20 - Dec. 2
The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of December 2, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.
November 20
Chasitty Matos, 20, of 338 Park Ave. Apartment D, East Hartford was charged with disorderly conduct, and two counts of third-degree assault. Matos was arrested after a report of a disturbance at 268 Hartford Turnpike in Tolland, according to police.
November 21
Police responded to a two-car accident. Tolland resident Dennis Elwood was traveling on Tolland Stage Road, followed directly by Hampton resident Ivan Marrotee, according to police. Police report that Marrotee rear-ended Elwood's vehicle after Elwood stopped for a tree service flagger.
November 23
Police responded to an accident on Route 74 in Tolland when a vehicle crossed into the wrong lane and struck a vehicle coming from the opposite direction head on. Police report that the roadway was wet at the time of the accident. The driver who crossed into the wrong lane told police she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve. Everyone involved was taken to the hospital for complaints of pain, according to police.
November 24
Two Tolland residents were involved in a two-car accident, according to police. Police report that Craig Larochelle of Lyman, ME attempted to back up on the Exit 67 off-ramp when he struck the car of Wendy and Charles Shaw of Tolland, who were directly behind him. No injuries were reported. Larochelle was found at fault and issued an infraction for unsafe backing, according to police.
November 25
Police responded to a two-car accident on I-84 in Tolland after Pennsylvania resident Gary Swann crossed from the center lane to the right lane, striking a vehicle driving in that lane. The struck vehicle spun out of control, according to police, and hit a guardrail. The driver and passenger from the hit vehicle were taken to Rockville Hospital by Tolland Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Swann and his passengers said they were uninjured, according to police. The struck vehicle was severely damaged and towed. Police report that Swann was issued an infraction for failure to maintain lane.
November 26
Police report that an Andover resident was traveling on I-84 in Tolland when he lost control of his car and hit the wire rope guard rails. No injuries were reported, and the car was towed from the scene. The accident in under investigation.
Police responded to an accident on I-84 in Tolland afer an East Granby resident collided with the rear of a tractor trailer, according to police. No injuries were reported, although the car had to be towed from the scene.
November 28
Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 near Goose Lane after Woodstock resident Taran VonKirschner's car was struck by a Vernon resident as VonKirschner was attempting to turn from the Meeting House Commons parking lot onto Route 195. No injuries were reported. VonKirschner was found at fault for failure to give right of way from a private driveway and was given a written warning, according to police.
Tolland resident Dorothy Wilhelm was involved in an accident in Ellington, police report. Wilhelm was driving behind an Ellington resident on Main Street when the car in front of her slowed to turn into a parking lot and to allow pedestrians to cross. Police report that Wilhelm failed to stop in time and struck the car in front of her. No injuries were reported. Police report that Wilhelm was charged with failure to allow proper distance between vehicles.
December 1
Lifestar was called after an accident on Route 195 near Goose Lane in Tolland. Tolland resident John Hirth was traveling north on Route 195 and made a left turn into a gas station parking lot, pulling in front of a Mansfield resident traveling south on Route 195. The Mansfield resident struck the right side of Hirth's vehicle. The Mansfield resident was later taken to Saint Francis Hospital by Lifestar, according to police.
