Update: UPS Driver Taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar

Tolland resident Randy Collins' truck was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Old Post Road and Mountain Spring Road.

Troop C has identified Tolland resident Randy Collins as the man taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar on Monday evening, after his UPS truck was struck by a vehicle driven by Coventry resident Patrick Wall at the Old Post Road and Mountain Spring Road intersection.

Collins, 39, suffered leg and head injuries from the collision, according to police reports. His truck was hit as he was traveling south on Old Post Road and another driver came through the intersection from Mountain Spring Road, police said.

Hartford Hospital reports that Collins is in fair condition as of Tuesday afternoon. The case is still under investigation.

A UPS truck driver has been taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar helicopter after his vehicle was hit by another vehicle at approximately 6:30 p.m.

According to Assistant Public Safety Director Doug Racicot, it is believed that the truck was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Old Post Road and Mountain Spring Road, turned on its side, and slid into a telephone pole.

The driver, a man, was trapped inside. After he was freed from the vehicle, he was put in the helicopter and was taken away. The driver of the car, also a male, was taken to Rockville General Hospital.
