A Phone Book, an Ogre, Planting a New Commission and More ...

Things to know for Thursday, July 25, 2013.

• The Tolland Fire Department, Inc. has begun work on the 2014 Edition of the Tolland Community Directory. At this time the Phonebook Committee is requesting that any updates, not previously submitted, including requests for advertising space be submitted no later than Friday, Sept. 13 to help ensure adequate time to make changes. 

Residential updates to the directory for new town residents, changed names or phone numbers can be submitted via email tophonebook@tollandfire.org   

Advertising orders must be accompanied by a completed order form. Advertising Order Forms can be downloaded from the TollandFire Department website at “THE PHONEBOOK” link at http://tollandfire.org/phonebook  

• The Town Council is seeking volunteers to serve on an Agriculture Committee to promote the continuance of farming in the community as well as the preservation of farm land. If you have an interest or background in agriculture and would like to be on the committee you are invited to submit a letter of interest and/or resume highlighting your skill set to: Town Manager’s Office, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084; or via e-mail to the TownManager, Steven Werbner at: swerbner@tolland.org 

• On July 26 and July 27, Tolland Youth Services Community Theater will present the play. Both shows will begin at 7 p.m. in the Tolland High School auditorium. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the Tolland Public Library through July 26. For more information, check out the full post on Tolland Patch.

• On Thursday, July 25th at 1:30 p.m., READ Dog trainer and handler Terri Carpenter will be at the  library with her dog to demonstrate to children how to behave safely around dogs. Sign up required; for ages 5 and up.
