A Reminder About Bulky Waste and More ...

Things to know for Tuesday, July 30, 2013.

Here's what you need to know today in Tolland: 

• Town officials are reminding residents that Tolland is now on an every other month schedule for bulky waste pick-up .

The following is the pick-up schedule for the remainder of 2013 and the first half of 2014: September (Sept. 9 week), November (Nov. 4 week), January (Jan. 6 week), March (Mar. 3 week) and May (May 5 week) only. 

The new schedule applies to all bulky waste items including bulky, metal, used motor oil and car/truck batteries.

Remember that you must schedule this pickup by calling 800-286-5335 or 860-423-4527 or you may make a reservation through the Willimantic Waste website at www.williwaste.com at least four days prior to your normal pickup day. All other procedures for bulky waste will remain the same.

• The Hicks Museum is hosting a a summer lawn concert on the Green featuring Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters on Wednesday, July 31, from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

• It time for the annual Tolland County 4-H fair.

The fair kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 4 with an open horse show, then continues on Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11. The fair is where 4-H members have an opportunity to share their projects with the public. The fairgrounds, which are located at the Tolland Agricultural Center, 24 Hyde Ave, Route 30 in Vernon.
