Arghhhhh ... It's Talk Like a Pirate Day

Are you talking like one?

Arghhhhh ...

Now hear this!

Did ya know that today be International Talk Like a Pirate Day?

So you can find out where your ancestors set sail from at tonight's "Genealogy on the Internet” seminar offered by the French-Canadian Genealogical Society of Connecticut.

Arghhhhh ... it starts at 7 p.m.

The program is slated for the society library in the Old County Courthouse, 53 Tolland Green, in Tolland.

Ivan Robinson of Tolland will offer tips on how to use the Internet to find genealogical information and to connect with people researching the same name.

He will also discuss the 1940 U.S. census, which is on line and is name searchable. To register, call 860-623-8721 or send an e-mail to semfcgsc@aol.com.

What kind of grub will be served up for the little ones?

It be south of the border grub at Birch Grove Primary School - super nachos, cheese pizza, and black bean  and corn salsa.

It may seem impossible, but it's likely that Tolland resident Captain Benjamin Burgess, who lived in the 18th century, was a legitimate pirate, or at least, a privateer.
