Patricia (Hanley) Winter, 71, of Tolland, passed peacefully Friday (September 30, 2011) at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer.
Born in Hartford on February 26, 1940, daughter of Ada Hanley (Neri) and the late Edward Hanley, she had lived in Tolland for the past 48 years. Pat enjoyed gardening, swimming, reading and loved animals. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family outings at East Beach and was a Red Sox and UConn basketball fan. She was an accomplished accountant and a massage therapist. She will also be fondly remembered for her Thanksgiving stuffing, apple pies and making Christmas cookies for the family with her grandchildren. She loved music, swimming in her pool with her family and trips to Aruba and Cape Cod; she was a true Cape Nana.
She leaves two sons, Michael E. Winter and wife Laura of Coventry, Christopher C. Winter and wife Susan; granddaughters Abby and Cassidy, of Tolland; and her sister, Cheryl Olender and her husband David of Vernon. She also leaves two nephews, David Olender, Jr., his wife Jennifer and their children, Sarah and Ellen, and Jeffrey Olender, his wife Amy and their children, Jack and Anna, all of Ellington. Her family is grateful for the special care that was given by Dan Walker of the Visiting Nurse Association.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation.
