Hartford, CT – State Senator Tony Guglielmo (R-Stafford) congratulates the Coventry Regional Farmer’s Market on its new barn.
“Many of our residents love to visit the market so they can buy fresh produce and flowers,” said Sen. Guglielmo. “Farmers from all over eastern Connecticut will bring their products to the market. It has spurred a lot of business and this new barn is a great opportunity to expand a great concept.”
Construction is now underway on the new barn – State, town and community representatives visited the construction site of the Yankee Post & Beam barn on Wednesday May 22. The barn is being constructed on the grounds of the Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry, CT, location of the Coventry Regional Farmers’ Market.
The barn was won by the market during the “Great Barn Giveaway”, a national contest held by WH Silverstein during the summer of 2011. The project was made possible in part by an Agriculture Viability Grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture to develop the site infrastructure. Construction is anticipated for completion in mid-June 2012.
