Have you ever wondered who provides the holiday wreaths for town buildings, gives a seedling tree to each Gr. 3 student for Earth Day, organizes and runs the parent-child dances for Gr. 4 and 5 at TIS, or gives your children an opportunity to snack with Santa at Crandall's Lodge? We do!
Tolland Community Women is looking for women 18 and over interested in building friendships, leadership skills, and a better community.
We plan projects to benefit residents of all ages, such as an annual luncheon for senior citizens. We also collect hats and mittens for children in need of winter warmth, run the "Wish Upon a Star" project to collect holiday gifts for Tolland children, and adopt two families for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
Our annual donation list includes the schools, library, fire department, and many local non-profit organizations. We award an annual college scholarship(s) to a Tolland resident(s). We recently partnered with THS Vision and Deca clubs to help support a Tolland-based charity, Kids in Limos, which provides a special memory for CT children with cancer or other special needs.
We sponsor Tolland Juniorettes, a volunteer organization for young women 9-18. In addition, we help support women veterans through Connecticut Junior Women's long-term affiliation with Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes.
We are actively seeking new members to help us continue these traditions, or to plan new projects to meet the needs of the community. We also enjoy several social events throughout the year. Come find out what we're all about! Call Linda (830-7011) or Minna (896-1014).
