Twenty students from the Tolland High School Music Department performed in the CMEA Eastern Region Music Festival January 4 and 5 at the University of Connecticut. Leonard Chiang (violin) was selected for membership in the orchestra. Marissa Bedard and Phoebe Szarek (flute), Ian Cook and Meera Dave (French horn), Jacob Gorsky (bassoon), Matthew DellaCamera (euphonium), and Matt Vatteroni (trombone) played in the band, and Ryan Boutot (tenor), Anna Giangregorio, Kari Trice, Sierra Jesanis, Lilly Baker, Olivia Cusson (sopranos), Kayla Singleton, Kaitlyn Leibowitz, McKenna Connelly, Kristen Machuga, Gabrielle Hurlbut, Jenny Lindquist (altos) participated in the chorus. Students were chosen through an audition process which took place at Woodstock Academy on November 10. Several of these students also auditioned for the Connecticut All-State Music Festival on February 3 at North Haven High School. Six of them made it into the All-State Festival: Matthew DellaCamera, Meera Dave, Anna Giangregorio, Kari Trice, Kaitlyn Leibowitz, and Kristen Machuga. The festival rehearsals will take place in Cromwell, and the concert will be at the Connecticut Convention Center on April 4.
