FRIENDS EXECUTIVE BOARD URGES RESIDENTS TO VOTE YES FOR A BETTER LIBRARY

The Executive Board of the Friends of the Tolland Public Library urge residents to vote YES on November 5th to give Tolland a better library.  The library has an extraordinary opportunity to expand in the now unused Hicks gymnasium.  The good news for town residents is other town projects are coming off the debt rolls so the expansion will not need an increase in the town's debt burden.  Grant opportunities are availabale and are being pursued.  Last year's renovation provided patrons with a brighter, more energy efficient space.  However, the library is, by State Library standards, too small for our town of 15,052 residents.  Expanding into the Hicks gymnasium would add 4900 square feet of new space.  This would equate to larger program rooms for adults and children, increased availability of computers, quiet study and tutoring areas and growth for the library's various collections.  Tolland's library could evolve into a community gathering place, or better yet, our community's living room.  Please vote YES on November 5th.
