The deadline has been extended to Monday, May 12 for Tolland students can show their patriotism by entering the 2014 Memorial Day Essay Contest.
This year’s topic is “The theme of this year’s Tolland Memorial Day parade is “Always Honored – Never Forgotten.” Describe the ways you and your family honor members of the military who have given their lives to protect you.”
Winners will be honored by the Tolland Permanent Celebration Committee at a ceremony following Tolland’s 23nd annual Memorial Day Parade, which begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 25 along the historic Tolland Green.
Prizes will be awarded to Tolland children in grades 3-4, grades 5-6, grades 7-8 and grades 9-12. Entries must be written in the form of an essay. They must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point font, and no longer than one page. They must include the student’s name, address, phone number and grade.
