THIRD GRADE STUDENTS TO RECEIVE DICTIONARIES FROM FRIENDS OF TOLLAND LIBRARY

The Friends of the Tolland Public Library will be participating in The Dictionary Project for the first time this November.  Each of Tolland Intermediate School's 191 third grade students will be receiving their own personal dictionary for use at school or at home.  As stated by The Dictionary Project, "Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade."  Besides being useful gifts, the dictionaries are a statement of support from the community and promotes awareness of the library.  The Friends of the Tolland Public Library are pleased to offer support in the education of Tolland's children and assist them in becoming successful, lifelong readers.
