The Tolland Board of Education has begun its search to replace William Guzman, Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Guzman has served the district with distinction for the past twelve years and will retire on August 1, 2014.
The Board has enlisted the services of the Connecticut Boards of Education (CABE). Leading the search is Dr. Paul C. Gagliarducci, former superintendent of schools in Somers.
The process is a multi-facetted approach that will involve input from the community, parents, and staff. Direct meetings with focus groups and the use of an online survey will help determine the leadership profile of the new superintendent.
Importantly, the Board is seeking volunteers to serve on a broad-based initial screening Committee to review applicants and conduct the first round of interviews. The Board will post new information on the district website for those who wish to follow the process.

“This is an important and ambitious process that we have begun”, stated Board of Education Chair Sam Adlerstein. “We know that this is a busy time of the year but we hope to find a new leader and have that person on board as soon as possible.”
The Board has decided to hire an interim superintendent to replace Mr. Guzman in order to help administrators and staff prepare for the opening of school on August 27, 2014.
