Tolland Memorial Day Essay Contest & Coloring Pages

Tolland students can show their patriotism by taking part in the town’s 2014 Memorial Day essay contest.

This year’s topic is “The theme of this year’s Tolland Memorial Day parade is ‘Always Honored – Never Forgotten.’ Describe the ways you and your family honor members of the military who have given their lives to protect you.”

Winners will be honored at a ceremony following Tolland’s 23rd annual Memorial Day Parade, which begins at 1 p.m. in the center of town on Sunday, May 25. Prizes will be awarded  for grades 3 and 4; 5 and 6; 7 and 8 and 9 to 12.

Tolland children can also take part in the festivities by coloring a Memorial Day page provided by the committee.

The pages will be available at the Tolland Public Library in the weeks before the parade and will be sent home through the public schools. Children can bring their completed artwork to the library and receive a prize.
