Tolland Middle School Receives Breakfast Grant from Pinnacle Foods

Tolland Schools are working hard to ensure that students begin the day with a nutritious breakfast either at home or at school. Based on the direct impact breakfast has on academic performance, Tolland Middle School started a school breakfast program. The program was a huge success thanks to the continuing support and hard work of the administration, the food service staff, and the entire school staff.

Based on these efforts, the Food and Nutrition Service received a grant from Pinnacle Foods. This grant allowed the school to serve breakfast to everyone at Tolland Middle School for one day at no charge. The sixth graders ate on Wednesday, seventh graders on Thursday, and eighth graders on Friday. The focus was to expose students to the options that are available and to send the important message of fueling young brains and bodies to be ready for the school day.

Breakfast is served at Tolland Middle School Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 7:58 a.m. each day that lunch is also served (not available on 1/2 days). Cost for students is $1.50 or free for all students eligible for either free or reduced price meals.
