Celebrating Earth Day in Tolland

Sunday, April 22 is Earth Day, and Tolland residents have a number of great ways to celebrate locally:

Help the UConn Horticulture Club restore the gardens to their Victorian-era appearance. The event starts at 10 a.m., and participants are asked to bring any garden tools and gloves, if they can.

Enjoy Tolland's natural beauty with an easy to moderately difficult hike, scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Shafran Conservation Property on Eaton Road. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed. The hike should last around an hour and a half.

Kids and Parents Earth Day Hike

Make Earth Day a family event at the Kids and Parents Earth Day Hike, starting at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion at . These two hikes are designed for beginners, and participants should bring a snack and drink, as well as comfortable shoes. No pets are allowed.
