Enjoying a Night of Music, Family and Nature

The Hicks-Stearns Family Museum offers concerts on the lawn some evenings in July.

Tuesday evening, dozens of people brought chairs, blankets and in some cases small meals to the lawn of the Hicks-Stearns house on the town green to enjoy a night of jazz.

The Riverboat Ramblers Dixieland Jazz Band preformed a collection of tunes - from ragtime to big band to New Orleans jazz and Cajun rhythms - to a crowd that couldn’t help but tap their feet and clap their hands.

The show was part of the , which encourages people to come to the museum to partake in a pastime that would be approved by its original owners, who loved to entertain guests.

The series will continue on July 20 with Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters, a group that is at home singing a variety of styles of music, including folk, country, bluegrass and western swing.

The museum gates open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 6:30 p.m.
