Honor Your Military Member on Patch

Memorial Day is a time to remember military members we have lost but it is also important to recognize those still with us.

While Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the many soldiers we have lost over the centuries, it is also a time to consider the many troops we still have fighting today and those who have honorably served. Help us honor all of our community's military, present or passed, by adding their names and photos to this article.

In the comments below, please leave his or her name, rank and years of service, and if you'd like to include any biographical information, please do.

You can add a photo to the gallery above by clicking Upload Photos and Videos beneath the photo that is already there.

Thank you to all our service men and women who have fought and are currently fighting for our country and our freedom.

I would love to honor my Uncle Ted who fought in WWII and was killed in a Japanese Prison of War camp. He has been missed by his 11 sisters and brothers and all of us who never had the chance to meet him here on earth. Blessings to all of the families who have missed loved ones due to the wars.

I would like to honor my buddy Bill who served in the 8th Armored Division (aka The Thundering Herd) in WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and helped to liberate one of the Buchenwald concentration camps in Germany. He passed away last November at the age of 87. He was like my second Dad when I was a kid growing up and I feel honored to have known him. Bill was a great man!

Thank you to all those who have served, who have given so much of themselves to ensure our freedoms and way of life are protected. The words "thank you" seem so small for such an enormous task.

Our family honors our brother, Lt. John C. Kupuck, (1921-1945) United States Army Air Corp, pilot with the Troop Carrier Command, who lost his life when his plane went down in Leyte Gulf. "Gone but never forgotten."
Bob Lyke May 27, 2012 at 08:24 pm
Along with my father, Robert K. Lyke, Sr., (1919-1968) who served proudly in the US Army Air Corps, I honor and remember all Veterans that served and are still serving to protect our great country. It saddens me to think about those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
1,800 veterans die every day...don't let any vet die alone.

It's society's fault.
Sam Norman June 17, 2013 at 03:13 pm
Another regional high school had a tailgate breakfast this morning and it went with out anyRead More problems. (without approval from admins.) Kids are not the problem here. Seems like administrators are the ones looking for problems.
Fitzy June 17, 2013 at 04:40 pm
It's society's fault that they trashed the school. That's intelligent!
Fitzy June 15, 2013 at 10:58 am
Stay positive, learn and grow always. And always, always be open to, and pray for, new perspectives.Read More You are obviously engaged, bright and motivated. Always stay that way, but realize you will see many, many things in your life that aren't fair. I have travelled a lot, and been off the beaten track in Peru and many other poor countries. And I myself grew up on welfare. There are so many wonderful things that we have in Tolland and in America. So many, many opportunities and blessings. Never feel persecuted or you will be the one who loses. This has developed into a discussion about life. In a nutshell, what occurred at the school was not right.
chinamom50 June 17, 2013 at 05:01 pm
The three lowest funded schools in Connecticut are EastHartford, New Britain and Waterbury. YesRead More that is,per student. Sorry F16 but statistics are easily attainable on line. No, tolland is not on the list of under funded schools.
F16 June 17, 2013 at 06:43 pm
I was told by a teacher, who is very knowledgeable, that we were as of this year the very bottom ofRead More the state. My bad though, thought that was correct.
