Photo Gallery: Knitting at Tolland Public Library

Check out the beautiful knitting and crocheting work from the group that meets at Tolland Public Library each Friday.

The weekly knitting group that gathers at on Fridays didn't intend to end up in Tolland. The group of knitting and crocheting enthusiasts were regulars at The Knitting Nook in Coventry.

However, a combination of severe snowy weather and the business closing in the winter of 2010-2011 brought the group to Tolland, where they fit so perfectly, they haven't left!

"The library has been so wonderful to us, we never stopped showing up," said member Denise McMillen, explaining that the group planned to use the library's program room temporarily and to perhaps move to a group member's home for meetings when the sidewalks and roads weren't overtaken with unmelted snow.

The group members show their appreciation by each donating a dollar at every meeting and then giving the total to the library.

Anyone who is interested in joining the group can stop by the weekly sessions, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday. As knitter Christele Hagaman said, working with fellow knitters and crocheters is inspiring.

"It's a great way to get projects done," she said.

Check out some of their fantastic work posted in the photo gallery above.
