Museums to Be Open During Memorial Day Parade

The festivities are slated for Sunday.

A Pair of museums along Tolland Green will be open for Sunday's Memorial Day parade.

Both the old Jailhouse and the Old Tolland County Courthouse will have open houses from Noon until 3 p.m. 

Parts of the Old Jailhouse interior have been renovated. 

The parade is scheduled to step off at 1 p.m., next to the Preschool of the Arts on Route 74.

The parade will travel by the Tolland Green, turn right onto the Old Post Road and conclude at Tolland Intermediate School. 

The parade will be followed by a solemn ceremony featuring the VFW Post 241, singers Amanda Danielson and Alex Noonan from Tolland High School, Patrick Tracey from the VRC, the high school band and the Nathan Hale Ancient Fifes and Drums.

The Tolland Veterans Wall of Honor will be available for viewing before, during and after the parade.

The wall was created in 2007 by the Veterans Recognition Commission to honor 
Tolland men and women who have served in the military. Hundreds of residents are listed on the wall, including those who have served from the French and Indian War to the World Wars to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The wall, located on the second level at the Hicks Municipal Center, will be open for viewing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday It can be accessed via the rear door.
