Crews at the Tolland High School athletic complex took the ball in the end zone and made it to the 40 by lunchtime on Friday.
The Department of Public Works has been keeping everyone up to day via its Facebook page, Tolland Works.
The million-dollar project is being funded through grants and public and private money.
The field is scheduled to be officially dedicated on Sept. 20 at the THS home football opener. The ceremonies are slated to begin at 5 p.m.
Special Guests will include Tolland resident Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman.
A 6 p.m. ribbon cutting is on tap, followed by the game against Rocky Hill.
