Tolland Kids Learn the Science of Forensics

The Tolland Recreation Department program uses crime scene investigations to explore the fun in science.

Tolland criminals better start cleaning up the evidence! The Tolland Recreation Department is running a week-long forensics program for kids, called Mad Science Secret Agent Lab: CSI Edition.

Heather Gaines, a Mad Science New England instructor, will be teaching campers how to be crime scene investigators. Ten kids attended this half-day program, which started on August 1.

These young sleuths will learn how to identify threads of fabric and how to tell whether materials are flammable or not. They will read footprints and use marshmallows to investigate fingerprints.

Each child was given their own investigative package to use their newfound sleuth techniques around town, so beware!
