Tolland's Gale Starts New Chapter in His Music Ministry

He is the new minister of music at the Gilead Congregational Church in Hebron.

Tolland's Bruce Gale is the new minister of music at the Gilead Congregational Church in Hebron.

His first day was Sunday.

Gale grew up in Coventry, where he has been a member of the First Congregational Church since he was confirmed during his high school years.
He said music has always been a very important part of his life.

Gale began playing piano when he was 7 and when he was in college he started playing organ. At 21, he purchased a music store - Gale's Music in Willimantic. Gale said after many years of owning his own business, he realized it was time to "grow up and get a real job." He is now in his 22nd year as a first-grade teacher at Coventry Grammar School - the same school he attended as a child.

Gale is also a hospice volunteer involved in the Music by Bedside Program, where he plays music for hospice patients. He was also the organist at St. Mary Church in Coventry for 26 years.

Gale has lived in Tolland for the last 13 years. He is very interested in technology and incorporates it into his teaching each day. When playing piano and organ, Bruce often uses his iPad instead of sheet music to read from.
