UConn Looking for Mothers of Infants to Participate in Autism Study

Local moms can help the university by volunteering for the study.

Researchers at the are looking for pregnant mothers and mothers with infants to participate in an autism study. The study will evaluate the development of infant siblings of children with autism over the first two years of life.

It is being conducted by Deborah Fein, a UConn Board of Trustees professor of psychology and Anjana Bhat, an assistant professor in UConn’s Neag School of Education.

According to a university press release, researches are looking for the following participants:

  • Younger siblings of children with autism between 16 to 30 months of age may be eligible to participate in the Early Detection Sibling Study. 
  • Infant siblings of children with autism between 3 to 12 months of age may be eligible to participate in the Infant Learning Study and may continue to participate in the Early Detection Sibling Study after 16 months of age.

An important part of this study will include parental input through questionnaires, phone interviews and “play-oriented, structured activities” with your child(ren). Those interested in the Early Detection Sibling Study and/or the Infant Learning Study are encouraged to call 860-486-5767 and/or 860-486-0019, respectively.
