Doofus At the Arts Center of Tolland

Doofus is a lively old-time band consisting of two musical couples: Ellington residents John and Heidi Cerrigione, and Neal and Coleen Walters of Pennsylvania. Together they sing, play guitar, autoharp, mountain and hammered dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and acoustic bass. Their brand of old-time acoustic music is quite fitting for an Arts Center show, so come and enjoy the music!

Doofus is indeed a strange name for a band. It stops short of being an insult though, when used as good-natured banter between and among good friends. So, while it might mean “village idiot” to some, it’s really a token of the affection for each other and the music they make together.

The band regularly performs at dulcimer and autoharp festivals such as the Cranberry Dulcimer Gathering , the Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering, the Housatonic Dulcimer Celebration , and Vermont’s August Dulcimer Daze.  For more information on Doofus, visit their website at:  www.doofusmusic.com
