Doofus In Concert
(TOLLAND) On Saturday evening, October 1, at 7:00 p.m., Arts of Tolland welcomes back the band, Doofus, to the Arts Center of Tolland, 22 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT (06084). Doofus is a lively old-time band consisting of two musical couples: Ellington residents John and
Heidi Cerrigione, and Neal and Coleen Walters of Pennsylvania. Together they sing, play guitar,
autoharp, mountain and hammered dulcimer, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and acoustic bass. Their brand
of old-time acoustic music is quite fitting for an Arts Center show, so come and enjoy the music!
Doofus is indeed a strange name for a band. It stops short of being an insult though, when used
as good-natured banter between and among good friends. So, while it might mean “village idiot” to some, it’s really a token of the affection for each other and the music they make together.
In 1996, Doofus collaborated to produce a repertoire book of “30 Old Time Songs/Tunes “ for
Mountain Dulcimer and Autoharp. In 1998, the band released their first CD entitled “ What Did We
Leave Behind?” followed by “Handful of Songs “ in December, 2000; “Relatively Serious” in 2002 and
“Stream of Time” in 2006. For more information on Doofus, visit their website at:
