"Land and Luminance: A Solo Art Exhibit by Elizabeth Rhoades" AT THE ARTS CENTER OF TOLLAND

Arts of Tolland welcomes back Elizabeth Rhoades for a solo exhibit, "Land and Luminance," at the Arts Center of Tolland Saturdays during the month of September. Rhoades is an award winning Connecticut artist whose pastel paintings are characterized by their vibrant color and sensitivity to the natural forms and light in the landscape. She holds art degrees from SCSU, and Wesleyan University. Rhoades has painted professionally for over 37 years, thirty of which were as an elementary art teacher.

Elizabeth Rhoades began her professional painting career in 1973 as a watercolorist. She paints in the plein-air tradition, and in her studio from value sketches and reference photos she has made on location. Her prior mastery of watercolor painting has provided her with an intuitive knowledge of color and value, allowing her to render her motif in pastels with an impressionistic touch while quite representational. Come and see this very talented artist.  http://www.ctpastelsociety.com/e-rhoades-fr-web.html
