High Art From the High School at the Arts Center of Tolland

Artwork by advanced arts students from the high school is on display at the Arts Center of Tolland, with an opening reception today.

Tolland residents looking for a taste of high culture need look no farther than the Green this weekend. Advanced art students from Tolland High School will be presenting their original artwork over the next two weekends at the Arts Center of Tolland.

An opening reception will be held today, from noon to 2 pm. The public is invited to the free event, which will display drawing, photography and painting of 13 advanced art students of high school art teacher Todd Blais.

All the students whose work will be displayed were enrolled in the Advance Placement Studio Art Course at the high school. They have also taken other studio courses in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, commercial art, pottery and jewelry.

“[The exhibit] consists of work from last semester,” said Blais.  While all of the students have created unique art pieces, Blais said attendees should be on the look out for the works of two students in particular.

“The work by seniors Tom Fabrizio and Mason Hainey are very notable,” he said. Both students will be attending art school in the fall.
