The gallery will be holding a dual art show and auction on Friday, April 27 to raise money for the Cornerstone Foundation in Rockville.

Artsake Gallery owner Jennifer Hopkins said that the gallery has a history of pairing its art shows, featuring local artists, with an opportunity to give back to the community.

This year, more than 20 local artists are decorating 22-inch long wooden ties, which will be auctioned off at the end of the night on April 27.

"This just kind of evolved," Hopkins said. "We try to do something charitable."

Guests can get involved in the fun, as well, by wearing their favorite ties. Prizes will be awarded to the ugliest, most original and most dapper ties, Hopkins said.

In addition to the auction, local artists will be showing their work. The show runs on Friday, April 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Artists who would like to enter a decorated tie should drop the entries off by April 19.

Guests are also encouraged to bring a food or health care item to donate to the Tolland Food Bank.
