Recall: Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Maker

A small brush in the machine can leach lead, the manufacturer says.

The makers of the Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Maker have issued a voluntary recall of the machine because a small brush inside of it has the potential to leach lead.

Focus Products Group International, LLC says consumers should immediately stop using the Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Maker and contact the Focus Products Call Center for instructions on how to return the product and receive a replacement. The machines were sold under the following makes and model numbers:

  • West Bend
    • 65032
  • Back to Basics
    • CM300BK, CM300BKL, CM300BLSS, CM300BR, CM300BRBRL CM300BRL, CM300W

"To date, Focus Products has received no notice of any consumer complaints. However, the company’s independent testing revealed the potential problem, and out of an abundance of caution, the company voluntarily decided to recall the product," the company said in its recall notice.

"The only affected products are the Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Makers, makes and model numbers listed above.  The Cocoa Grande Hot Drink Maker is NOT affected by this recall.  The Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Makers shipped nationwide starting in 2004 through October 12, 2012. The affected products come in a variety of colors with transparent pitchers, and were sold primarily in the United States through various retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, through various e-retailers such as Amazon.com and through Focus Products’ online store."

Consumers who have a Cocoa Latte Hot Drink Maker should contact Focus Products’ Call Center at 1-888-943-5202. Further information will be available on Focus Products’ websites, www.focuspg.com   and www.westbend.com .

We purchased one from Amazon that is part of the recall. One phone call to customer service and they will send you a "return kit" to send the pitcher back. The rep has indicated customers can choose between a replacement or refund. But is there anyone confident about replacement?

Another regional high school had a tailgate breakfast this morning and it went with out anyRead More problems. (without approval from admins.) Kids are not the problem here. Seems like administrators are the ones looking for problems.

It's society's fault that they trashed the school. That's intelligent!

Stay positive, learn and grow always. And always, always be open to, and pray for, new perspectives.Read More You are obviously engaged, bright and motivated. Always stay that way, but realize you will see many, many things in your life that aren't fair. I have travelled a lot, and been off the beaten track in Peru and many other poor countries. And I myself grew up on welfare. There are so many wonderful things that we have in Tolland and in America. So many, many opportunities and blessings. Never feel persecuted or you will be the one who loses. This has developed into a discussion about life. In a nutshell, what occurred at the school was not right.
