Star Hill Bubble Collapses from Heavy Snow

General Manager Nick Odell said that the bubble gave way to the snow Saturday night.

The Star Hill Athletic Facility bubble collapsed Saturday night from this weekend's heavy snowfall, according to Star Hill's General Manager Nick Odell.

No one was injured from the collapse, Odell said.

Odell explained that the bubble was the only part of the building that was damaged. He anticipates that the fitness center will be open to the public on Monday.

Staff will be assessing the situation for the next two days before commenting further, Odell said.

Star Hill opened in Tolland in 2009. The weather-protected bubble contained basketball courts, volleyball courts, turf field and an indoor track.

Can Soccer games still be played ? Maybe the roof can be patched with Saran Wrap or Duct Tape or a combination of the two ?

This is such a loss for the families who enjoyed the complex.

Interesting. Most flexible buildings have shakers or can be pulsed with internal air pressure to shake snow and ice accumulation loose. I ass/u/med such a structure here would be so protected. At least no one was hurt...

Hmm perhaps it's reader-submitted. I went up there but was asked politely to leave so I did not get a picture.
