Toyota is recalling 760,000 Rav4s in the U.S., from model years 2006-2011, citing a suspension problem that can cause crashes. Toyota also is recalling some 18,000 Lexus HS 250h's from 2010, according to a CNN report.
The automaker says the problem is related to the rear suspension arms on both vehicles. If the nuts on the arms aren't tightened properly during a wheel alignment service, the arms can loosen and even separate.
In a press release it issued Wednesday, Toyota said it is currently developing a remedy for the problem. "Once the remedy is available, we will send a notification letter by first class mail advising owners to make an appointment with an authorized Toyota or Lexus dealer to have the remedy performed at no charge."

The CNN report says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in June launched an investigation into potential rear suspension problems in some 460,000 RAV4's from between 2006 and 2008.
