Start Warming Up for the 13th Annual Cider Mill Road Race

The 5K and family fun run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Crandall Park.

The 13th annual Cider Mill 5K and Family Fun Run is almost here! The popular event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 at .

Publicity chairperson Lisa Jenkins said that the between 700-800 people participate in the races each year.

"It is such a great community event," Jenkins said. "It's a really non-intimidating way to start running, but yet we draw runners from all over Connecticut."

The day will include Cider Kids races for the younger crowd, led by Tolland elementary school gym teachers. Runners can also try out the Cider Mile and the official 5K.

A committee drawing from the Tolland Elementary PTO, Tolland Middle School PTO, Tolland High School Booster Club and Tolland Recreation Department organizes the race. The proceeds from the race benefit the groups as well as programs to promote physical education in Tolland.

The top winners of the 5K win a cash prize, while division winners receive a medal.

According to a press release about the event, the kids races start at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the mile run at 9:45 a.m. and the 5K at 10:30 a.m.

Runners can register before and on the day of the race, although Friday is the last day to register and be guaranteed a Cider Mill Road Race T-shirt.
