Hurricane Sandy Could Cause Multi-Day Outages in Tolland

School is also cancelled on Wednesday. Three of the school buildings remain without power as of Tuesday afternoon.

Some Tolland residents could be without power for several days, Town Manager Steven Werbner predicted at an EOC meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Half of the town remains without power, and the three crews assigned to Tolland are still working on clearing roads for emergency vehicles, which is the first priority.

"Our district is all in the 50 to 70 percent without power range," Werbner said of the 14 towns that CL&P groups together. He said it may not be possible for more crews to be diverted to Tolland's district due to the more severe damage on the shoreline.

Schools will also remain closed on Wednesday. All of the school buildings, with the exception of TIS, are still without power.

Residents can take showers at Star Hill Athletic Facility until 10 p.m. Tuesday and starting at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Town hall and the Tolland Public Library will be open normal hours on Wednesday, as well.

CLP still sucks!!! Maybe it's time for another utility company in CT. I understand the shoreline was hit harder but c'mon, we are paying customers too. Where are all the out of state crews...presumably at the shoreline, so we have to wait??? Ridiculous! Maybe we will get power back on day 8. Hopefully CLP gives us all a nice reduction of our bill for having to wait!!

Interesting ...... the CL&P outage map did not jive with this article, especially this morning so it appeared to be improving in Tolland. I have just noticed CL&P has updated our map to show more of us without power than before! We are going in the wrong direction with our 3 crews. I have also noticed Tolland Patch has decided not to show comments on these articles as I am sure I am not the only one with something to say on this.

rest assured it will be more like day 8 or 9 so they don't get stuck paying us a penny like they did the last time ..... not that it helped my $50/day gas bill for the 10 days I was out. We have 3 crews in town which is 3 more than we had for the first 7 days of last years storm so I guess we are considered covered. Where is our town manager updating us? The selectman in Stafford was doing that yesterday with less outages than we have. In a town like ours which is on the list of towns to live in you would think we deserved more than 3 crews. I agree ..... CL&P cannot handle what they have and we need another utility co for our end of the state so we can get some service and attention.

Onlywhatsfair, I can see all of your comments on this article. I am not deleting any comments. I am doing lots of breaking news on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/TollandPatch, which explains that our numbers jumped up because crews are likely turning off wires in order to safely complete repairs. I got this information from the CL&P liaison, who I am sitting next to in the EOC on Merrow Road. I am also posting the updates from our town manager, who is at the next table on the EOC. I suggest you sign up for the e-blasts from the town to get his updates. He is regularly sending them out.

so where are the 4 comments to this article that are showing in the begining? The article is here but not the comments?

I can see the comments just fine...perhaps it's a glitch? Our sites have issues with Internet Explorer. If you're using that, that could explain it.

Just got an update. Our tech team is working on a glitch with comments not showing up for some users.

As of 12:30 today CL&P's "special" phone number still has no information for Tolland. Prepared as usual ..... no wonder they spent so much time before the storm calling all their customers to tell them to be prepared. What would they have done if the storm had hit CT???

I am signed up for the eblasts ..... I have received 1
