Hurricane Sandy Could Cause Multi-Day Outages in Tolland

School is also cancelled on Wednesday. Three of the school buildings remain without power as of Tuesday afternoon.

Some Tolland residents could be without power for several days, Town Manager Steven Werbner predicted at an EOC meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Half of the town remains without power, and the three crews assigned to Tolland are still working on clearing roads for emergency vehicles, which is the first priority.

"Our district is all in the 50 to 70 percent without power range," Werbner said of the 14 towns that CL&P groups together. He said it may not be possible for more crews to be diverted to Tolland's district due to the more severe damage on the shoreline.

Schools will also remain closed on Wednesday. All of the school buildings, with the exception of TIS, are still without power.

Residents can take showers at Star Hill Athletic Facility until 10 p.m. Tuesday and starting at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
