Obituary: Carol Duncan

Duncan was active in the United Congregational Church of Tolland and the Tolland Historical Society.

Carol (Needham) Duncan, 85, of Tolland, wife of the late Donald S. Duncan, died Friday, June 8, 2012. Born in Tolland, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Luhrsen) Needham, she was a lifelong resident of Tolland.  Upon graduating from Rockville High School and the University of Connecticut, Carol began her 40 year teaching career at Rockville High School. She especially loved teaching American History and the classroom was where she felt most at home. She was a faculty advisor to the National Honor Society as well as several graduating classes. 

In her early years, Carol was active in the United Congregational Church of Tolland and later in the Tolland Historical Society. When not in the classroom, Carol loved her summers with her family on Cape Cod. 

She is survived by her son, David Duncan of Old Lyme and her daughter, Elizabeth Jamroz of Franklin Lakes, NJ, their spouses and her six grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Tolland.
