Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood Warning in Effect for Tolland

The National Weather Service warns of heavy rain, damaging winds and lightning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flash Flood Warning for Tolland County until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the NWS, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, lightning, heavy rain and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles an hour was spotted near Rocky Hill at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The storm is expected to reach Storrs some time after 3 p.m., according to the NWS.

The weather service advises residents to seek shelter indoors.

Heavy rainfall may produce flash flooding and motorists are advised not to drive through flooded roadways.
