Friends of the Tolland Public Library to Take Over Tree Auction

The holiday fundraiser will now benefit the library group.

Tolland's annual silent tree auction is returning after a year-long hiatus, but is also under new management. The Friends of the Tolland Public Library is taking over the event, which used to benefit the Tolland Historical Society for a number of years.

Library circulation assistant Irene Pudelkiewicz said that residents can bid on the two-foot table top trees starting at the opening reception, being held at the library on November 29 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Each tree, created by locals, has its own theme. Residents can bid on the festive creations until Sunday, December 2. The winners of the trees will be announced from 1 to 3 p.m. that day, and winners can pick up their trees throughout the week during regular library hours, if they can't attend the event.

Any residents who want to submit an entry can enter a tree until November 26.

The trees will be on display at the library for all to enjoy until they are picked up by the winners.
