Tolland to Open Cooling Center During Extreme Heat

The center will be at the Tolland Senior Center and will be open Thursday and Friday.

Tolland is stepping up to battle the week's upcoming heat and humidity. According to a press release from Public Safety Supervisor and Emergency Management Director John Littell, the town will open a cooling center at Tolland Senior Center on Thursday and Friday.

The cooling center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food will not be made available, so residents who use the center should bring their own meals.

The town is also making other adjustments for the extreme weather, including the postponement of Truck Day in hopes of cooler temperatures. In an email notification, the town said that the annual event will be moved from this Friday to Friday, July 29. It will, however, remain in the 1 to 3 p.m. time slot and will still be held in the parking lot next to the Tolland Public Library.
