Patch's Barbara Bresnahan visited Monson, MA on Friday to capture images of the wreakage left in the wake of tornadoes that struck the town on Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews from several towns in north central Connecticut assisted communities in Massachusetts with search and recovery efforts in Springfield, Sturbridge, Brimfield and Monson, as well as clean up operations. Tolland personnel spent the better part of Thursday night in Monson, just north of Stafford.

If you’re interested in assisting with relief efforts for the tornadoes that hit Massachusetts, the American Red Cross Connecticut Regional Chapter is looking for support. You can do so by calling 1-800-Red Cross, visiting redcross.org or texting REDCROSS to 90999 for a $10 donation.

Another easy way to help those affected by the storm is to provide food. Ready-to-eat non-perishable foods are most needed at this time. To donate, visit www.foodbankwma.org.
