Town to Revisit Cross Farms Plans

Officials will look at cost discrepancies for a concession stand and bathrooms.

Well, it's back to the drawing board for a plan to put a concession stand and bathrooms at the Cross Farms Recreation Complex.

In his report to the Town Council on Tuesday, Town Manager Steven Werbner said the bids for the project came in "substantially higher than engineering estimates.

The bids ranged from about $525,000 to $670,000, he said.

The cost estimates are about $400,000, he said.

"So, we'll go back to the engineer and see what modification we can get," Werbner said.

Werbner said he would like to use about $70,000 from additional Local Capital Improvement Program funds for which the town is earmarked to help pay for the project.

The 100-acre park features three soccer fields and two baseball fields. The park also has more than a mile of hiking trails that connect to the nearby high school, as well as a family fitness trail.

Cross Farms has an official 18-hole disc golf course, which threads through the woods.

It is located on Rhodes Road near Birch Grove Primary School.
