Vernon PD: Man Allegedly Beats On, Then Attacks Pregnant Woman With Scissors

A police dog found him hiding in the bushes near a local apartment complex, police said.

A man is facing serious criminal charges after pummeling and then attacking his pregnant girlfriend with a pair of scissors during a domestic incident late Friday at the Park West apartments, Vernon police said.

At 11:18 p.m., poise responded top a domestic call at 72 Park West Drive, according to an arrest report.

When they arrived at the scene, police said they discovered that Lance Redd, 26, of 53 Catherine St., Worcester, MA, had allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. He punched and kicker her and went after her with a pair of scissors, according to an arrest report.

He jumped out of a second-floor window to evade police, but a canine unit tracked him down in an area of thick brush adjacent to the apartment complex, police said.

Redd was taken into custody, transported to Rockville General Hospital, where he was treated for a broken toe sustained in the leap out the window, and charged with second-degree assault with a victim, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with police, second-degree threatening and first-degree unlawful restraint, according to an arrest report.

He had a Monday court date after his bond was set at $250,000, police said.
