Meet The Candidates Forum To Be Aired On Public Television

Tw showings are slated.

Tolland voters will have an opportunity to hear from all 24 candidates for municipal office with the broadcast of this week's Meet the Candidates forum sponsored by Tolland Community Women.

TCW Co-Presidents Kathy Aldrich and Linda Domingos said the two-hour forum will be broadcast on public access television, Channel 5, Monday Nov. 4, at 11 a.m., and on Tuesday Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.

Candidates for the Town Council, Board of Education, Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals made statements and then responded to questions submitted by approximately 75 audience members.

The event was moderated by Joseph P. Bacewicz Jr., a former state Teacher of the the Year and Principal of Tolland High School.

According to Betty-Lou Griffin, TCW Leadership Officer, “Joe did an outstanding job as moderator, making sure that all candidates had an opportunity to express their views.”

Topics discussed ranged from improving relationships between the council and school board, economic development, all-day kindergarten, and whether the public should be given the opportunity to vote for a budget which includes increased services.

In addition, several candidates for the council expressed strong support for the proposed library expansion.
