Lifestyles Expo CT

Thousands of area
residents are expected to participate in the first-ever Lifestyles Expo CT on
Saturday, November 9 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Star Hill Family Athletic Center,
100 Gerber Drive near I-84 Exit 67. The Expo will be held rain or shine, with a
wide range of activities and resources for all ages, from tykes to seniors.
General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 60-up, and $20 for a
family. Admission for children age 12 and under is free. Refreshments will
be available for-sale in the Star Hill dome throughout the day. Free on-site
parking will be provided. 



The Lifestyles Expo CT
will begin at 7:30 am with a sprint triathlon consisting of a 300-yard
swim in the indoor Star Hill pool, a 10-mile bicycle ride and 5K run in the
beautiful Tolland County countryside. Deadline for triathlon registration,
which includes free admission to the Expo, is November 2.   



From 9 am to 4
pm, the huge Star Hill dome will include multiple Expo venues. There will
be an all-day health fair with free flu shots, free seminars, live
demonstrations of da Vinci robotic surgery technology, and resources on
fitness, diet, strength and power, and healthcare. An all-day financial
forum
will have free seminars and resources on college planning,
retirement, and investment strategies. The all-day home show
includes free seminars and resources on parenting, gardening, renovations
and entertainment. An all-day educational forum offers free
seminars and resources on picking the right school, tutoring and job placement.
The all-day leisure expo will feature free seminars and resources
on cars, social media and communications, vacationing, boating and sports.

The Expo will also
feature a Star Theatre with speakers including former UConn men’s
basketball coach Jim Calhoun, former Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee, Dr. Dan Veltri
and Scott Cross. A Kid’s World with secure drop-off area will feature
indoor soccer, dodge ball, Nuke Em, petting zoo, obstacle course, bouncy house,
and special appearances by Rocky the RockCat and Sonar from the Wolf Pack.
Train rides will also be available at $3 each. Weather permitting, the Re/Max
hot air balloon will provide free outdoor rides. 



With Christmas season
around the corner, a JesusFest Pavilion will feature displays by area
churches, ministries and businesses; a Christmas crèche; Christian art
gallery; Creation Station science area; Christian book-signing area; and prayer
tent.
