St. John’s Concert, The Asylum Quartet

On Sunday, March 30th at 4:00 p.m. St. John's Episcopal Church in Vernon, CT will present the fifth in its series of concerts, featuring the Asylum Quartet. 

Lauded for “nonstop virtuoso skills”, the Asylum Quartet plays everything from lush classical works, minimalism, and modernism to indie rock, world music, and klezmer.  Joseph Abad (soprano saxophone), Tony Speranza (alto saxophone), Max Schwimmer (tenor saxophone),  and Andrew Barnhart (baritone saxophone) met as graduate students at the The Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut in 2011. All avid chamber musicians, members of the quartet have garnered praise in recent national competitions. During the summer of 2014, Asylum will serve as artists-in-residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute in Boscawen, New Hampshire.

Recently, the quartet presented concerts at The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts and Cultural Center (Middletown, Connecticut), alongside the Hudson Valley Chamber Winds (Washingtonville, New York), at the Whitney Center (Hamden, Connecticut), and at Bravo Waterbury!, in an outreach concert for the El Sistema-inspired music education program. Repeat performances include Connecticut’s J. Rene Coffee Roasters Music Series and Manchester Community College "Live on Main" Series.

Free will donations will be gratefully accepted at the door: $15 General, $10 Seniors, $5 Students.
