St. John’s Concert, The West End String Quartet

On Sunday, May 18th at 4:00 p.m. St. John's Episcopal Church in Vernon, CT will present the sixth in its series of concerts, featuring the West End String Quartet

The West End String Quartet came together in 2005 because of their shared passion for chamber music. Since then violinists Sarah Washburn and Jessica Meyer, violist John Biatowas, and cellist Anne Berry have been entertaining audiences across New England with an exciting and varied repertoire of chamber music.

Strong advocates of contemporary music, WESQ strives to bring new and uncommon repertoire to their concerts, pairing them with traditional works. In past seasons, the quartet has performed at St. James's Episcopal Church in West Hartford, the Universalist Church of West Hartford, and at Wesleyan University, Western New England College, Trinity College, and the Hartt School

Dedicated teachers as well, the quartet leads the chamber music program at Wesleyan University, and presents a series of chamber music masterclasses at The Hartt School Community Division.

The concert program includes Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 3 in F Major, and various tango pieces  for string quartet by Piazzolla.
