Zoroastrianism: Ancient and Influential Religion

Zoroastrians in the Hartford area will present a session on
the Zoroastrian religion, its origin and basic tenets, and the culture and
customs of the Zoroastrian Parsis of the Indian sub-continent.  This free event is part of the 'Getting to
Know Your Neighbors' initiative of the South Windsor Human Relations
Commission.

Learn how
Zoroastrianism was once one of the largest religions in the world, the official
religion of the Persian Empire, and how it influenced other religions such as
Christianity and Judaism.  You will hear
brief presentations from Zoroastrians in the area, and see displays of
traditional clothing, and religious and cultural objects.  You will learn about celebrations of customs,
holidays, and life cycle events, and taste a sampling of traditional foods.
