TOLLAND SCHOOL MUSICIANS BRIGHTEN THE WINTER SEASON

Winter brings seasonal music to Tolland, brought to us by Tolland School students from Kindergarten through high school.  The season kicked off in mid-December with the Tolland Intermediate School Fifth Grade Chorus concert. The students sang under the direction of Mrs. Judy Baker. The Fifth Grade Band Concert followed the next day under the direction of Mr. Ben Golder-Novik.

These concerts were followed by one of the highlights of Tolland music scene - the traditional Madrigal Dinner.  A wonderful dinner was served by the music students in full Renaissance regalia, and diners were treated to  music of the Renaissance performed by the Tolland High School Madrigal Singers, Women's Chorus, Flute Trio, and the Renaissance Brass Quintet.

More festivities followed at the Tolland Middle School Band and Chorus Winter Concerts, under the direction of Ms. Heather Titus and Ms. Beth Stewart. The standing room only crowd was treated to a variety of pieces, topped off with the traditional Frosty the Snowman sing-along.

Of course the excellent results on display at these concerts are the results of music education from an early age. Our youngest students performed at the annual Kindergarten Winter Concert on December 20, under the direction of Kathy Adams.  And there’s more to come…

The Tolland High School Winter Concert is slated for January 9 at the THS auditorium at 7 pm.  Also in January, the middle school and high school jazz bands will get their turn, at the combined jazz band concert on January 14 at THS at 7 pm.
