LEECHES AND LIBERTY

The Crystal Lake Historical Society is pleased to announce that Mr. Richard Kennedy will be our  Guest Speaker at our monthly meeting on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church at Crystal Lake. He will provide a presentation dressed as a colonial surgeon on 18th century medicine which will include early medical instruments, medications, treatments, elixirs/tonics, and will discuss the similarities of how medicine is practiced today.  Mr. Kennedy is a writer, historian, faculty member at Quinnipiac University, and retired commander of medical units in the Army Reserve.  He has recently published a historical novel about medical practices during the American Revolution entitled "Leeches and Liberty" which will be available for purchase.  The public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.
